The Ferrari Dino 196S looked very much like a Testarossa. In fact it can be hard to distinguish the difference unless a close comparison is made. The main difference in the body is that it had its wheelbase shortened to 88.6 inches, although it retains the characteristic body style of the Testarossa.
But mechanically it was quite different by featuring a two liter V6 engine, which was really a six cylinder version of the Colombo designed V12.
Ferrari’s policy at that time was to engage autonomous coach builders to design and manufacture bodies for their
chassis. The 196S bodies were built by Scaglietti and Fantuzzi
The car shown in these photographs was built at the request of the owner of a Ferrari Dino and styled to resemble a Scaglietti-bodied 196S.
