Most D-types had a live rear axle, a system that dated back to pre-war designs. But Jaguar recognised the limitations of this system and developed a number of experimental D-Types with fully independent rear suspension featuring four shock absorbers with coil springs and an anti-roll bar. This racing experience led to the development of Jaguar's independent rear suspension that featured on cars such as the E-Type, S-Type, Mk 10, 420G and so on.The Tempero rear suspension is based on Jaguar's experimental D-types, being fully independent with four adjustable shock absorbers and springs.

The brakes on the original Jaguar D-Type were a technological breakthrough, with disks all round, and were a major factor in its racing successes. Building on this standard, the Tempero D-Type features numerous upgrades. Jaguar disk brakes are still used all round but the fronts feature three pot callipers while the rears are twin pot for braking balance. Ventilated disks replace the original solid disks on at the front and power assistance is standard equipment.

Once again, for those who desire complete originality a standard D-Type system is available on quotation, with solid disks and single pot callipers. However, drivers should be aware of the inherent limitations of this system and should take care to drive within its capabilities.

At Temperos we manufature our own 16" cast alloy wheels to the original D-Type size and style, complete with the original peg drive. To match these we manufacture our own peg drive hubs, computer cut from the highest grade steel billets to within .0005" (half of one-thousandth of an inch). We also manufacutre our own original stle 3-eared wheel spinners, cast in bronze and chrome plated.

Tires are usually 16" Bridgestone steel belted radials or similar and can be specified by the owner, but need to be appropriately speed rated to handle the power and performance of the car.
